Empathy Museum Pop-Up Shop
A physical high street shop bringing together Empathy Museum projects under one roof.
About this project
In autumn 2023, Empathy Museum brought its vision for a transformed town centre to Brixton. Beneath the iconic Atlantic Road arches, a series of installations and events explored dialogue, human exchange and community-building.
For the first time, all of Empathy Museum’s participatory projects came together under one roof, from long-standing favourites that had travelled the world to new ideas making their public debut.
During the day, visitors could explore the A Mile in My Shoes shoe shop, From Where I’m Standing estate agent, A Thousand and One Books library, If I Were You advice bureau and the Talking Table town square, each reimagined as a space for human exchange rather than commercial transaction.
In the evenings, Nights at the Round Table brought together writers, activists, practitioners and community leaders for a programme of conversations and workshops exploring how we can live better alongside one another.
