I was 8 when my teacher read this book aloud to us a chapter a day. The first line is so personal, and kind that I felt the book had been written just for me, the “Gentle Reader”.
It was the first time a book transported me – by flying carpet – to exotic places, enchanted lands, and gripped me with a love story and characters that made me laugh, cry and see that anything is possible through the imagination. I couldn’t sleep at night waiting for the next installment.
